Malachi

Overview

Through the prophet Malachi, the Lord promised that if we pay tithing, He will give us more blessings than we can receive (see Malachi 3:10). Malachi also prophesied that the Savior would restore the sealing keys to “turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers” (Malachi 4:6).

He fostered this same attitude of acceptance and love among His followers. As you teach, look for ways to help all students feel welcome and accepted. Help them know their participation in class is important and valued. To learn more about how the Savior did this, see “The Savior Ensured That All Felt Respected and Valued” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 13–14). For an example of how to help students know their contributions are valued, see Lesson 160: “Assess Your Learning 10.”

Lesson purpose: To help students reflect on the goals they have set and the growth they have experienced during their recent study of the Old Testament.

  • Student preparation: Invite students to come to class prepared to share a picture that represents talents or skills they have developed, ways they have grown, or experiences they have had over the last year or so. If they cannot find a picture, they can simply come with an example to share.

  • Images: Several pictures of scripture events in the Old Testament that illustrate the Savior or His power (some examples are a picture of the Savior during the Creation; Moses and the serpent on a staff; the Savior in the furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; and Daniel refusing the king’s meat and wine).
