Healing the People
“Have ye any that are sick among you? … Bring them hither and I will heal them, for I have compassion upon you; my bowels are filled with mercy” (3 Nephi 17:7).
After a long day of ministering, as Jesus prepared to leave the Nephites, He saw that “they were in tears” and did not want Him to go (3 Nephi 17:5). In response, the Savior offered His healing power. “My bowels are filled with compassion towards you,” He said (verse 6), and then He asked for the sick to be brought to Him. “And he did heal them every one as they were brought forth unto him” (verse 9).
Jesus Christ similarly offers compassion and healing to each of us today. President Russell M. Nelson has taught that Jesus Christ is the answer to our questions and problems. Speaking of the Savior’s invitation to “return unto me, … that I may heal you” (3 Nephi 9:13), President Nelson said:
Jesus Christ extends that same invitation to you today. I plead with you to come unto Him so that He can heal you! He will heal you from sin as you repent. He will heal you from sadness and fear. He will heal you from the wounds of this world.
Whatever questions or problems you have, the answer is always found in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
