The Church Is Here
Kiribati
In 1973 and 1974, 25 students from Kiribati went to a Church-owned high school in Tonga and, with their parents’ permission, joined the Church there. In 1975 the Fiji Suva Mission was expanded to include Kiribati, and several of those students were called to serve as the first missionaries in Kiribati. Since then, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has grown in this country of islands to include:
-
22,600 members (approximately)
-
2 stakes, 12 wards, 31 branches
-
1 announced temple (Tarawa); groundbreaking November 2024
God Provides a Way
Anameere Tennaba Schwalger was the first in her family to join the Church, to serve a mission, and to earn a bachelor’s degree. She shares: “I often felt like my dreams were out of reach. But through faith, patience, and the grace of God, I’ve been blessed in ways I never imagined. I’ve seen His love in the people He brought into my life.”
