Elder Carlos J. Lantigua is Called to Serve

Although Elder Carlos J. Lantigua was not a member of the Church until the age of 20, he did not grow up without a sense of family. In fact, his little neighborhood in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic was full of close family members; grandparents next door, an uncle and cousins across the street and two great aunts next door on the opposite side. Though his parents were separated, his father lived only a few doors away and was very involved in the lives of his children.

This sense of familial organization was formalized in 2004, when a young Carlos, influenced by his future wife, Niurka, accepted the challenge to become a member of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Since this time, Elder Lantigua has spent his life in the service of the Lord, his family, and in various callings including serving as the first bishop of the Boca Chica Ward.

When not involved in Church and family activities, Elder Lantigua finds the time to serve as sales manager for Cartonera Hued, a manufacturing company based in Santo Domingo.

Elder and Sister Lantigua have one daughter, Niurka, with whom they share their passion for the Christmas season and its powerful message of the birth of Jesus Christ. Each year, Sister Lantigua transforms the Lantigua home into a celebration of joy, with lights, decorations, music and the traditional foods and festivities of the season. Elder Lantigua says that their family loves the Christmas season because it unites the family.

Elder Lantigua was serving as stake president of the Dominican Republic, Las Americas Stake when he was sustained as an Area Seventy and member of the Sixth Quorum of the Seventy in April of 2023, and is currently serving with the Santo Domingo West Council.
