How Do We Show Our Trust in the Lord?

Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah prophesied terrible destruction in their day. However, these prophets also extended invitations to trust in the Lord, assuring the faithful, “The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him” (see Nahum 1:7) and that “the Lord God is my strength” (Habakkuk 3:19).

How does the Lord show us that we can “trust in him”?

“We can always trust God. The Lord knows us better and loves us more than we know or love ourselves. His infinite love and perfect knowledge of past, present, and future make His covenants and promises constant and sure” (Gerrit W. Gong, “Trust Again,” Liahona, Nov. 2021, 98).

Activity: Obstacle Course

Create an obstacle course using things like chairs, toys, or other objects you have. Ask two family members to navigate the obstacle course, with one person acting as the guide and one person acting as the walker. Blindfold the walker to represent the darkness in our “day of trouble” (Nahum 1:7).

The guide will hold the walker’s hand and give spoken directions to help get the walker through the obstacle course.

Without stepping on or bumping into anything or anyone, the walker must walk through the course, trusting the guide.

At the end of the activity, families can read scriptures about trusting in the Lord (see Proverbs 3:5–6; Matthew 14:29; 1 Nephi 3:7).
