Come, Follow Me

2 Kings 6

You Are Never Alone

Have you ever felt alone or afraid of what was to come? The servant of Elisha the prophet felt this way too when he saw Syria’s army of horses and chariots surrounding Dothan, Elisha’s home city.

In fear the servant cried to Elisha, “Master! how shall we do?” (2 Kings 6:15).

With faith, Elisha answered, “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them” (verse 16). After Elisha prayed for the Lord to open his servant’s eyes, the servant saw “horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha” (verse 17).

“There may be times when you, like the servant, find yourself struggling to see how God is working in your life—times when you feel under siege—when the trials of mortality bring you to your knees. Wait and trust in God and in His timing, because you can trust His heart with all of yours. … You too can pray for the Lord to open your eyes to see things you would not normally see” (Michelle D. Craig, “Eyes to See,” Liahona, Nov. 2020, 15).

We may not see them, but the Lord and His army of angels are round about us (see Doctrine and Covenants 84:88). “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
