Ethiopian Members Assemble Hygiene Kits

More than 70 Church members gathered at the Meganagna meetinghouse in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on October 1, 2011, for approximately five hours to assemble 5,000 hygiene kits for their fellow Ethiopians affected by the Horn of Africa drought.

The project is part of the Church’s effort to help the people living within the Ethiopian borders.

New Leadership Training Video Library Available

As an interactive supplement to the updated Handbook 2: Administering the Church, the Church’s Priesthood Department has announced the Leadership Training Library, an online collection of short training videos that highlight the principles taught in the manual. The new resource is available now at leadershiplibrary.lds.org. Portions of the library will be available in 11 languages this year.

Chile Celebrates 50 Years of Missionary Work

During October 2011, Chile commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Church’s formal missionary work there with a weeklong celebration.

The Chile Area Presidency sponsored the commemoration and spoke at the event on Saturday, October 15, that culminated the celebrations.

It brought some 20,000 members to Santiago’s Santa Laura Stadium, where talks, songs, a play, and cultural dances commemorated the Chileans’ acceptance of the gospel and the growth of the Church.
