    The Woman at the Well

    Jesus traveling through Samaria

When Jesus left Judea to go into Galilee, He traveled through Samaria and came to Jacob’s well. John 4:3–6

He spoke with a woman at a well

He was tired, and He rested by the well. When a Samaritan woman came to get some water, Jesus asked her to give Him a drink. John 4:6–7

    The woman was surprized

Since the people of Judah usually had nothing to do with the Samaritans, the woman was surprised. John 4:9

He told her he was the Messiah

Jesus told her He could give her water that would cause her to never thirst again. He explained that He was the Messiah and that the water He offered her was the “living water” of eternal life. John 4:10, 13–15, 25–26

The women told others who also believed

The woman went to the city and told many people what she had heard. They went to the well and spoke with Jesus themselves, and many of them believed His words. John 4:28–30, 39–42
