4. Becoming a covenant son of God

Study together

I am a beloved son of God, and He has a work for me to do. I rejoice in God’s divine design of family. I desire to become a loyal husband, a loving father, and a man of righteous influence.

“I am the Lord God Almighty. … And, behold, thou art my son.”

In Moses 1:3–4, look for truths that God tells Moses about Himself. Why do you think He wanted Moses to know these truths? How does knowing these truths about your Heavenly Father affect the choices you make?

In Guide to the Scriptures, “Sons and Daughters of God,” look for the two ways we are children of God. Choose one of the scriptures listed, and share with each other what it teaches you about our relationship with Heavenly Father.

Learn about Adam,

“father of all” | Doctrine and Covenants 138:38–39; Moses 5:1–12

Moses 5:1–12 describes Adam and Eve’s life after they had to leave the Garden of Eden. Search these verses, looking for (1) things Adam did and (2) what he said. What do you find in his actions and words that shows that he trusted his Heavenly Father, His plan, and the importance of family relationships in that plan? What do you feel inspired to do to show that you trust Heavenly Father and His plan as His covenant son?
