Jesus Christ—the Center of the Plan

Purpose

Assemble a puzzle that illustrates the Savior’s central role in Heavenly Father’s plan of salvation.

Materials Needed

• One or more pictures, cut into puzzles, with Jesus Christ as the center piece. Here are some examples of pictures that could be used:

Instructions

• Hide the puzzle pieces throughout the room or building. Provide clues that lead from one piece to the next. For an added challenge, you could introduce obstacles or require the youth to answer a question, solve a riddle, or unscramble a word before receiving a puzzle piece. You could also prepare multiple puzzles so that groups of youth can be working on different puzzles at the same time.

After the youth have assembled their puzzles, help them compare this activity to our experience in mortality.

• What are some of the challenges, obstacles, or questions we face? How does your knowledge of the plan of salvation help?

• How does knowing about the plan of salvation help when you have important decisions to make?

• Why would the plan of salvation, like the puzzle, be incomplete without Jesus Christ? How can we keep Him at the center of our lives?

You could also use the puzzle activity as an opportunity to talk about receiving a patriarchal blessing. You might discuss how a patriarchal blessing helps us during “puzzling” times in our lives. Encourage the youth to prepare to receive their patriarchal blessing and study it often.
