Third Sunday
3. Learn more about your relationship with God
God the Father is the Supreme Being in whom we believe, whom we worship, and to whom we pray. He is the author of the plan of salvation. He is glorified, perfect, and eternal. He is the Father of our spirits, and He knows us. We are all the family of God. We lived with our heavenly parents before we came to earth.
Here are some questions and learning activities you could try:
-
Would you like to know more about Heavenly Father?
God is your father, and you are His child. He loves you completely, and He cares about your challenges, your life, and your future. Explore these scriptures, looking for things they teach about Him: Matthew 5:48; 2 Corinthians 1:3–4; Hebrews 12:9; Mosiah 4:9; Doctrine and Covenants 130:22. Based on what you found, how would you complete these sentences?
I know that God _______________. Because of this, I can (or I will) ________________________.
I know that God _______________. Because of this, I can (or I will) ________________________.

How does knowing that you are a child of God give you strength?
Moses learned in a heavenly vision that he was a son of God. You can read about his experience in Moses 1:1–11. This knowledge helped Moses when Satan tried to tempt him. As you read verses 12–18, notice how Moses gained strength by remembering that he was a child of God.
For another example, read Doctrine and Covenants 25:1–3 to see what the Lord said to Emma Smith. How does knowing that you are a child of God help you?
-
How does remembering that everyone is a child of God help you view others differently?
Think about the people around you. We are all different. We are all unique. When you remember that everyone is a child of God, how does this affect the way you feel about them—and the way you treat them? Read 2 Nephi 26:33 and notice how God treats His children.
