4. Becoming a covenant daughter of God

Study together

I am a beloved daughter of heavenly parents, with a divine nature and eternal destiny. I live in joy, find strength and purpose in Christ, and rejoice in my noble birthright as a covenant daughter of God.

“Lift up thy heart and rejoice.”

Do you have a favorite scripture, hymn, or quote from a Church leader that lifts your heart? Share it with the other young women, and tell them why it brings you joy.

If someone were to ask you why you are happy to be a Christian, what would you say?

Learn about Mary,

mother of Jesus | Luke 1:26–38, 44–56; 2:1–19; 1 Nephi 11:14–23

When Mary visited her cousin Elisabeth, the baby in Elisabeth’s womb “leaped … for joy.” Then Mary said, “My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour” (Luke 1:44, 47). What reasons for all this joy and rejoicing do you find in Mary’s words and experiences in Luke 1:26–38, 44–56? (see also 1 Nephi 11:14–23).

After experiencing the joyous events of the birth of Christ, “Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19). Read about these events in Luke 2:1–19. What joyful things do you find that you will keep and ponder in your heart this Christmas?
