How the Church Is Growing in Puerto Rico

• The first missionaries arrived in Puerto Rico in 1964.

• In 2014, Elder Hugo E. Martinez was the first Puerto Rican to speak in general conference. He gave his talk in Spanish.

• Each year Relief Society sisters in Puerto Rico sew and donate pillows to cancer patients.

Beautiful Temple and City

San Juan is the capital of Puerto Rico. They have a temple there! The city is more than 500 years old and has many beautiful beaches.

Umbrella Street

Calle de la Fortaleza is a street that often has decorations hanging between the buildings. The street has been decorated with colorful umbrellas, kites, and flags.

Glowing Water

There are three bioluminescent bays of water in Puerto Rico. Tiny creatures in the water make the water glow when it moves! You can see it best at night.

Colorful Birds

The Puerto Rican emerald hummingbird and the Puerto Rican parrot can only be found in Puerto Rico.

Music and Dance

Bomba is a type of Puerto Rican music and dance. It includes drums, singing, and dancing to tell stories about the people of Puerto Rico.
