Nephi Built a Ship
The Lord commanded Nephi to build a ship so his family could travel to the promised land. Three of the things Nephi needed to build the ship were tools, hard work, and faith in God (see 1 Nephi 17:7–16; 18:1–4).
Tools. Nephi prayed to know where he could find the right materials to make tools. The Lord helped him find rocks with ore (metal) in them to melt into tools.
Hard work. Nephi needed to gather wood to build his ship. It takes a lot of work to carry and cut wood!
Faith in God. Nephi had faith that God would show him what to do. He believed that God would help him. Nephi also believed that God would lead his family to the promised land.
