Song: “I Will Follow God’s Plan” (Children’s Songbook, 164–65)

Activity: Play this game: One person chooses an action. All the others copy the action. Then someone else chooses a new action. All the others do the first action, then the second. Keep adding actions and see how many you can do without forgetting any.

For John 2–4

Story: We know Heavenly Father loves us because He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. Because of Jesus, we can live with Heavenly Father again someday. (See John 3:16–17.)

Song: “He Sent His Son” (Children’s Songbook, 34–35)

Activity: How do you show your love? Cut out a bunch of paper hearts. On each one, write something you can do to show love to others. Put the hearts in a jar or a bowl. Each day of the week, pick a heart from the bowl. Then do what is written on the heart!

For Matthew 5; Luke 6

Story: One day Jesus went up to a mountain to teach people. He taught them how to become more like Him and Heavenly Father. We call His teachings there the Sermon on the Mount. (See Matthew 5–7.)

Song: “I’m Trying to Be like Jesus” (Children’s Songbook, 78–79)

Activity: Do the activity on page 8. As you read the scriptures, talk about what else Jesus asks us to do.

Build a House

For Matthew 6–7

Story: Jesus Christ told stories called parables to teach lessons. In one story a man built a house on the sand. Another man built a house on a rock. When it rained, the house on the sand fell. But the house on the rock stayed standing! Jesus wanted to teach us that when we follow Him, we can have strength during hard or scary times. (See Matthew 7:24–27.)

Song: “The Wise Man and the Foolish Man” (Children’s Songbook, 281)

Activity: Use blankets, towels, pillows, or other things to build a house. Then talk about how following Jesus brings peace in hard times.
