Box Rooms for Dolls

Make a bedroom, dining room, or living room for a small doll from empty boxes with lids. When open, the lid becomes the floor and the bottom becomes a wall. Cut one side panel off lid and fit against wall (see illustration).

Cover walls and floor with scraps of wallpaper, leftover gift wrapping, cloth, or paint.

Cut pictures from magazines and frame with construction paper. Windows and drapes can be drawn or cut from paper and added to wall.

Make furniture from spools, tiny boxes, and Styrofoam meat trays. Spools become stools, and Styrofoam trays make fine tables and dresser tops. A small flat box with a little oblong opening cut into it makes a fireplace and mantel. Draw brick on outside of box before pasting it to wall of room.

The best part about a box room is that when you are finished playing with it, you can store the furniture inside and close the lid.
