All-Weather Friends
What do I do when it rains outside
And I can’t go out to play?
I curl up in my favorite chair
And go visiting yesterday—
Through the pages of a favorite book
Where shiny knights of old
Fought fiery dragons with scaly tails,
Who guarded treasures of gold.
Sometimes I read of a girl like me
Near home or far away,
And I’m grateful for my book friends
On a stormy or sunny day.
