Privatleben

David A. Bednar kam am 15. Juni 1952 in Oakland in Kalifornien zur Welt. Er war Vollzeitmissionar in Süddeutschland und studierte dann an der Brigham-Young-Universität, wo er einen Bachelor- und einen Master-Abschluss machte. Außerdem erhielt er einen Doktortitel in betrieblicher Verhaltensforschung von der Purdue University.

Am 20. März 1975 heiratete David A. Bednar im Salt-Lake-Tempel Susan Kae Robinson. Die beiden haben drei Söhne.

Vor seiner Berufung ins Kollegium der Zwölf Apostel war Elder Bednar Gebietssiebziger, Gebietsautorität-Siebziger, Regionalrepräsentant, zweimal Pfahlpräsident und Bischof.

Berufsleben

Nach Abschluss seiner Ausbildung war Elder Bednar Professor für Business Management an der Texas Tech University und an der University of Arkansas. Danach war er von 1997 bis 2004 Präsident der Brigham-Young-Universität Idaho (des früheren Ricks College).
