Now it’s time to help your friends!

Let’s say you want to help a friend learn more about their family’s heritage, but they don’t have a FamilySearch account. What can you do?

If they know a name of at least one of their ancestors—like a grandparent who died more than a year ago—you can search for that ancestor using the Family Tree app. Just click on the search icon in the top righthand corner and fill in as much information as you can. (Or, if you’re using FamilySearch on a computer, go to “Family Tree” and “Find.”)

Once they connect with someone on the tree, they’ll be able to see what famous people they’re related to and what countries their ancestors came from. You might even find that you two are related somehow!

The best thing to do would be to help them set up their own account. They don’t need to be a member of the Church—lots of people from different religions use FamilySearch to learn more about where they came from! They won’t be able to see what temple work has been done, but they will have access to just about everything else.

Sneak Peek

Tomorrow we’ll show you how to tell quickly if you’re related to the people around you!
