And they’re cheering us on!

What is a true friend? What does a true friend do? How does a true friend influence your life?

The Savior called the apostles His friends (John 15:14). They bore witness of His name and mission. They brought others closer to Him through their examples. They acted in His name when he wasn’t there.

In 1829, the Lord told Oliver Cowdrey and David Whitmer to “search out” new apostles. But how?

The Lord said that they “shall desire to take upon them my name with full purpose of heart … and by their desires and their works you shall know them” (Doctrine and Covenants 18: 27, 38).

Since then, 102 men have served in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Lord’s Church.

We sustained Elder Patrick Kearon this past conference as the 103rd in this dispensation! You can learn more about him in this video interview.

Like they are the Savior’s friends, these apostles want to be our friends too. How has your life been better because of their influence? When have they helped you draw closer to Christ?

You can strengthen your testimony of their calling by praying and putting their counsel to the test. And then watch them get to work! The travel around the world teaching and testifying of the Savior.
