Rimmon
(1) God of the Syrians of Damascus (2Â Kgs. 5:18), identified by them with the sun god Hadad (Zech. 12:11). Among the Babylonians he was the god of the air, wind, thunder, and rain.
(2) Pomegranate. A Beerothite, father of Baanah and Rechab, the murderers of Ishbosheth (2Â Sam. 4:2, 5, 9).
(3) A place in Judah in the Negev (Josh. 15:32; 1Â Chr. 4:32; Zech. 14:10).
(4) The rock Rimmon, in the wilderness of Benjamin, about 3½ miles east of Bethel (Judg. 20:45, 47; 21:13).
