Your Life Has Purpose and Meaning

Life on earth didn’t happen by accident. You are here as part of God’s plan of happiness for all of us.

Find Answers through Jesus

You Are Here for a Reason

Have you ever wondered why you’re here? Why God created this earth and placed you on it? If you feel deep in your soul that there must be some greater purpose to your life than simply existing, you can find answers by turning to God.

We believe that we existed before this earth began, living with God as His children in spirit form. Like a parent sending their child off to school, our Heavenly Father sent each of us here so we could gain a physical body and learn and grow to become more like Him before someday returning to live in His presence.

God Wants You to Be Happy

Because God knew that our growth would require that we make choices and experience opposition, He sent His Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior and to help us find lasting happiness in this life. The gospel of Jesus Christ promises peace, enduring joy, and strength to those who faithfully follow God’s commandments and are baptized into Christ’s Church. The Book of Mormon teaches:

While experiencing sorrow is a natural part of this life, it is not meant to be the only thing you experience. God blessed us with many beautiful and wonderful things to enjoy on this earth.

One of the greatest sources of joy and meaning in your life can be your relationships with other people. Giving and receiving love is part of the purpose of life. The promise of eternal life with God and your loved ones can provide hope that carries you through difficult times.

Life Is a Time for You to Learn and Grow

Life includes painful experiences. When going through difficult times, it can help to remember that God is in control, that He wants what is best for you, and that as you do your best to follow Him, everything you experience will be made right someday through Jesus Christ. The Bible promises that “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain” (Revelation 21:4).

Growth through challenges

The experiences you have throughout your life are helping you grow into your potential as a child of God. When you want to strengthen your muscles, you do exercises that provide resistance to those muscles. Similarly, the trials you face can help build your character by providing resistance that leads you to grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.

Learning empathy

When you go through challenges, your empathy for others can grow and you can become more like Jesus Christ. You can be an instrument in God’s hands in helping others who go through similar challenges.

All will be made right

One of the gifts God has given us is the freedom to make choices for ourselves. Unfortunately, sometimes those around you will make choices that cause suffering for you or for those you love. This is not a sign God doesn’t love you or is unhappy with you. The things you suffer unfairly are temporary and will ultimately be made right through Jesus Christ.

You Can Become Better

Thailand: Harvesting

When God sent you here to learn, He knew you would make mistakes and would need help to overcome sin. He provided a Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, to suffer and die for you and for every person who has ever lived. Because of Jesus’s sacrifice, you can find forgiveness and healing.

With the Savior’s help, you can overcome sin, weaknesses, habits, and addictions that have held you back in the past. You can become more charitable, forgiving, humble, and patient than you were before. This process of becoming more Christlike will help you continue on the path back to live with God again.
