About Member Tools

Member Tools version 5.6 is planned for release around August 2026—bringing helpful improvements and brand-new features designed to make it easier to serve, lead, and stay connected.

• Standardized administration and tracking for Church Groups: Stake (district) and ward (branch) leaders can more easily organize and manage Groups with area presidency approval. See 37.7 in the General Handbook for more information about Groups.

• Approving member photos: Bishoprics and ward clerks can review and approve member photos right in the app—helping keep the directory current and accurate.

• Custom callings: Bishoprics and ward clerks can create custom callings when needed—making it simpler to reflect local needs and assignments.

• Temple Worker Portal: Temple workers can quickly open the Temple Worker Portal directly from a tile in the app.
• Connect with local leaders when introducing a friend to missionaries: When members submit a digital form to introduce a friend to missionaries, they can also request contact from a local Church leader in the area where the friend lives.

Here’s a quick tour of features currently available in Member Tools.

• Home: Choose the experience you prefer—Dashboard Tiles or Menu. Resize, reorder, and recolor tiles (and add or remove them) to make Member Tools feel tailored to you.
• Search: Find what you need in seconds. Search by member name, calling, or tile name—fast and simple.
• Menu: Get where you’re going quickly. Use the menu for direct access instead of scrolling through tiles.
• Profile: Keep your information up to date. Update contact details, adjust visibility settings, upload household photos, and view membership and household details—all in one place.
• Settings: Make the app fit your preferences. Switch between light and dark themes, set photo download options, and help former mission leaders stay connected with you.
• Help: Stay in the know. See what’s coming, what’s new, find answers to FAQs, and share feedback to help improve the app.
• Sync: Keep things current. Turn on automatic sync or manually sync whenever you want.
• Actions and Messages: Stay informed. See action items that need attention and read messages from Church headquarters and area offices.
• Directory: Connect with members quickly. Access contact information and photos for members in your ward or branch and stake or district—including those you minister to.
• Manage Records: Streamline administrative work. Bishops, branch presidents, and clerks can create and move records and record ordinances with ease.
• Organizations: See ward or branch and stake or district organizations at a glance. View callings and members by organization—and leaders can record and update callings quickly.
• Calendar: Plan and share events. View ward or branch and stake or district calendars, manage visibility, and make activities public so friends of the Church can see and RSVP.
• Member Lists: Work together more easily. Create custom lists of members in your ward and stake for simpler communication.
• Meetinghouses: Find meetinghouse information fast. Get locations, addresses, sacrament meeting times, and an option to send a message to the bishop or branch president.
• Ministering: Minister with confidence. View assignments and resources, and leaders can record interviews quickly.
• Finance: Simplify finance tasks. Submit payment requests, donate online, review and approve expenses, and bishops and branch presidents can record tithing declarations—all in one place.
• Missionary: Stay connected. Access contact information for missionaries serving in or from your ward and introduce friends to them.
• Temple and Family History: Worship in the house of the Lord. View your recommend and nearby temples, check ordinance schedules, submit names to the prayer roll, find family names with Ordinances Ready, and set reminders for recommend expiration. Leaders can issue and activate recommends too.
• Reports: Lead with insight. Ward and stake leaders can view and update membership reports, including confirming required training for leaders and teachers of children or youth. Teachers can also track class attendance and view an attendance summary.

Since its introduction in 2010, the Member Tools app has grown from a digital directory of ward or branch and stake or district members to a powerful tool with additional capabilities supporting both members and leaders throughout the Church.

As we continue to add helpful features, the app will eventually be renamed Member and Leader Tools. New features being added are the result of the Church conducting extensive research with members around the world.
