“Prophets and Revelation,” New Era, Apr. 2019, page–page.
The Lord called Section 1 the “preface” to the Doctrine and Covenants. So when He says to “search these commandments,” it applies directly to the revelations in that book. However, the “prophecies and promises” contained in the revelations also include other words spoken by the Lord’s prophets, for “whatsoever they shall speak when moved upon by the Holy Ghost … shall be the voice of the Lord” (Doctrine and Covenants 68:4).
“Truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come” (Doctrine and Covenants 93:24). Eternal truth is true for all of God’s children, no matter where or when they live.
All that God has revealed
All that God does now reveal
All that God will yet reveal
(See Articles of Faith 1:9)
When a prophet speaks the words that God inspires him to speak, it is the same as if the Lord were saying them to us directly.
What are the Lord’s servants currently emphasizing in their teachings?
What am I doing to receive and follow the word of the Lord through His servants?
How might I be able to improve in my ability to hear and follow the word of the Lord through His prophets?
