Let’s Dance

“If thou art merry, praise the Lord with singing, with music, with dancing, and with a prayer of praise and thanksgiving” (D&C 136:28).

Nearly 1,300 young men and women, ages 12–18, from the Bellingham, Bothell, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mount Vernon, Shoreline and Snohomish Washington Stakes performed in a multi-stake dance festival last April.

In three performances youth danced an Asian fan and ribbon dance, a Russian Cossack dance, and a Samoan Sasa, with additional dances from Africa, Germany, South America, and Tahiti. Along with the traditional dances from around the world, the performances included unique dances specially choreographed for the festival.

The event theme was “Celebrating a Life Well Lived,” in honor of President Gordon B. Hinckley. It was attended by nearly 10,000 residents of western Washington.

Take Your Best Shot

Have you looked at the inside back cover of your New Era lately? There’s always a great photo and a great poem. Now to the point—we need more great photos! So, all you budding photographers, start snapping. Take pictures of people, landscapes, interesting things; go ahead and be creative. Remember that your pictures don’t have to be particularly “churchy” either.

Send in your slides or prints, or send the electronic photo file if you’re shooting digital images. Just make sure to use your digital camera’s highest setting; preferably use a camera resolution of 5 megapixels or better. So, what’s the address?
