About the Hymns
Anytime, Anywhere
Author and composer Angie Killian found a special love for creating music to teach her children the gospel. One day a statement in a booklet for Primary children caught her attention: “I can pray to Heavenly Father anytime, anywhere.” Sister Killian felt inspired to write a song to teach this simple but powerful truth. After writing the first verse about our ability to pray to God, she felt the song needed a second verse to emphasize that we can also listen for heavenly guidance anytime, anywhere. Together, these verses help teach that prayer is more than one-way communication.
Sister Killian’s goal in writing music is to share her love of Jesus Christ and His teachings in a way that children can understand. She said: “God truly does hear our prayers and answers them openly. It is my prayer that this beautiful truth will be planted in the hearts of children everywhere.”

Activities for Families
-
Teach that we can pray in all times and places.
-
Ask your children when and where they like to pray to Heavenly Father. Tell them when and where you like to pray. Then play the song and invite them to listen for two important words that teach us when and where we can pray.
-
Invite your children to think of a simple motion they can do as they sing “anytime, anywhere,” such as patting their hands on their lap, tapping their wrist as if pointing to an imaginary wristwatch, or clapping their hands. Play the song again, and encourage them to sing along and to do the motion each time those words occur.
-
Explain that we can pray to Heavenly Father for help or comfort or to thank Him for His blessings. Invite your children to draw pictures showing when and where they might pray, such as at school, by their bed, or when they are happy or sad. Hang their drawings at home as a reminder that they can pray to Heavenly Father anytime and anywhere.

Talk about listening for the Holy Ghost. You might ask your children, “How can we hear Heavenly Father speak to us?” Help them understand that while we don’t usually hear His voice with our ears, we can feel His messages to us in our heart and mind through the Holy Ghost. Sing or listen to the song together, and invite your children to pay special attention to how it makes them feel. Pause to talk about words that feel special or meaningful to them. Start a timer and invite everyone to be still and quiet for one minute. Afterward, ask, “What did you feel? Did any thoughts come to your mind?” Remind your children of the importance of taking time to be still so they can listen for the Holy Ghost. Sing the song once more and then kneel together in family prayer. You could ask Heavenly Father to help each family member to hear Him.
