Apply the Principles of Acquiring Spiritual Knowledge

Doctrinal mastery can help you build your life on Jesus Christ and His gospel. This lesson will help you apply truths found in doctrinal mastery passages and learn and apply the principles of acquiring spiritual knowledge.
Review the Doctrine
Think about things that you don’t know how to use, but you know what they are used for. Here are a couple possible examples:
Why is it important to know not only what something is but also how to use it? How can this principle apply to our study of doctrinal mastery passages?
Today you will practice using doctrinal mastery passages and the principles of acquiring spiritual knowledge in real-life situations. Seek inspiration from the Holy Ghost to help you learn these passages and principles and apply them in your life.
Review the first 10 doctrinal mastery passages and key scripture phrases for the Old Testament. Make sure they are marked and tagged in your scriptures.

Select three of these doctrinal mastery passages. Create a scenario for each doctrinal mastery passage. The doctrine in the passage should help the person in the scenario. For example, for Joshua 24:15, a scenario could be:
A girl is tempted at a party to do something everyone else is doing but that she knows the Lord would disapprove of.
Note: Choose passages other than Joshua 24:15.
Share your scenarios with someone you know. Tell them how the doctrinal mastery passage could help the person in the scenario.
Learn and Apply
Take time to review the principles of acquiring spiritual knowledge from the Doctrinal Mastery Core Document (2022).
Complete the following scenario in your notebook. Consider how the principles of acquiring spiritual knowledge can help the person in this situation.
A young man named feels pressure from to break the Lord’s commandment of . He’s often told it’s not a big deal to break this commandment because . He feels confused and doesn’t know what to do.
Review the following study options. Complete one or more. Then complete the “Now What?” section at the end of the lesson.
