One of the purposes of doctrinal mastery is to help you memorize the scripture references and key scripture phrases for the doctrinal mastery scripture passages. Doctrinal Master - Matthew - John

Depending on the size of your class, consider assigning each student one or more of the 11 doctrinal mastery scripture passages. If necessary, the same passage can be assigned to multiple students.

Invite students to move around the classroom and work with partners to locate and, if they so choose, to mark all 11 doctrinal mastery scripture passages and key scripture phrases. Encourage students to switch partners every couple of minutes.

Invite students to do the following as they interact with each other (it may be helpful to write these instructions on the board):

1. Ask a question to get to know each other better (for example, “What is one of your hobbies?” or “What is one of your favorite places to visit?”).

2. Help each other locate the assigned doctrinal mastery scripture passage and key scripture phrase. Consider marking the passage and key scripture phrase in your scriptures.

3. Share why the truth in the key scripture phrase is important.

4. Try to memorize the scripture reference and key scripture phrase.

Choose at least three doctrinal mastery scripture passages, and do the following:

• Write the scripture references and key scripture phrases from memory.

• Share why you think these verses are important to know.

Over the next few days, strive to memorize the scripture references and key scripture phrases for at least three more doctrinal mastery scripture passages. Look for ways that knowing these verses can bless your life and the lives of those you know.

Another way to help students memorize the key scripture phrases would be to write on slips of paper questions more closely related to each doctrinal mastery passage. Students could work in pairs to answer the questions. The following are examples of the type of questions that could be asked:
