Who Do I Work With?
Young Men in the Ward
Build sincere relationships with the young men in your ward to help them feel loved and help them come unto Christ. Encourage them to seek the guidance of the Spirit in fulfilling their sacred roles as young men and Aaronic Priesthood holders.
Bishopric
The bishop and his counselors are the presidency of the Aaronic Priesthood in the ward. You serve under their direction and with Aaronic Priesthood quorum advisers to mentor the young men in fulfilling their priesthood duties and minister to them. (See General Handbook: Serving in The Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10.3; 10.5.)
Quorum Presidencies and Assistants to the Bishop in the Priests Quorum
Under the direction of the bishopric, you mentor and support quorum leaders as they learn how to use their priesthood keys to direct the work of the Aaronic Priesthood. Help quorum leaders develop Christlike leadership skills as they plan and direct the work in their quorum.
Other Youth Leaders
A member of the bishopric may request that you work with other Aaronic Priesthood or Young Women leaders to coordinate events or activities. (See General Handbook, 10.2.1.)
Parents of Young Men
“Parents are responsible to teach their children the gospel and help them live it (see Doctrine and Covenants 68:25–28). The bishopric and youth quorum leaders, with help from advisers [and specialists], support parents in this responsibility” (General Handbook, 10.2.1). Under the direction of the bishopric, counsel with young men’s parents to better understand their son’s needs, interests, talents, and abilities. Encourage quorum presidency members to invite fathers of young men to participate as much as possible in quorum service and activities.
Stake Young Men Presidency
The stake Young Men presidency will be a resource to you, providing support and ongoing encouragement. In stake Young Men training meetings, you will receive instruction to help in your service.
