My Calling as an Aaronic Priesthood Quorum Adviser

Who Do I Work With?

Young Men in the Ward

Build sincere relationships with the young men in your ward to help them feel loved and help them come unto Christ. Encourage them to seek the guidance of the Spirit in fulfilling their sacred roles as young men and Aaronic Priesthood holders.

Bishopric

The bishop and his counselors are the presidency of the Aaronic Priesthood in the ward. Advisers serve under their direction in each Aaronic Priesthood quorum. Aaronic Priesthood quorum advisers meet regularly with a member of the bishopric to counsel about the quorum. In these meetings you discuss the needs of the young men and their families. The bishopric may counsel with you about young men to call as quorum leaders. (See General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10.3; 10.5.)

Quorum Presidencies and Assistants to the Bishop in the Priests Quorum

You are the adviser to a quorum presidency. You mentor and support quorum leaders as they learn how to use their priesthood keys to direct the work of the Aaronic Priesthood. Help quorum leaders develop Christlike leadership skills as they plan and direct the work in their quorum.

Other Youth Leaders

A member of the bishopric may request that you work with other quorum advisers, specialists, or Young Women leaders to coordinate events or activities. (See General Handbook, 10.3.)

Parents of Young Men

“Parents are responsible to teach their children the gospel and help them live it (see  Doctrine and Covenants 68:25–28). The bishopric and youth quorum leaders, with help from advisers, support parents in this responsibility” (General Handbook, 10.2.1.1). Counsel with each young man’s parents to better understand their son’s needs, interests, talents, and abilities. Encourage the quorum presidency to invite fathers of young men to participate as much as possible in quorum service and activities.

Sunday School Presidency

“Ward leaders are responsible for improving learning and teaching in their organizations” (General Handbook, 13.4). Counsel with the bishopric and quorum presidency to determine how the Sunday School presidency can help improve teaching in the quorum.

Stake Young Men Presidency

The stake Young Men presidency will be a resource to you, providing support and ongoing encouragement. In stake Young Men training meetings, you will receive instruction to help in your service.
