My Calling as a Counselor in a Deacons Quorum Presidency

Who Do I Work With?

Quorum Members

Build sincere relationships with the young men in your quorum to help them feel loved and help them come unto Christ. Encourage them to seek the guidance of the Spirit in fulfilling their sacred roles as Aaronic Priesthood holders.

Quorum Presidency and Secretary

As a counselor in the deacons quorum presidency, you work under the direction of the quorum president. You support and sustain him as you accept and prayerfully fulfill the responsibilities he may delegate to you. You also seek inspiration so that you can use your unique gifts to bless the young men in your quorum. (See General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10.4.)

Bishopric

The deacons quorum president reports to the second counselor in the bishopric. He provides leadership training and support to help in your service.

Ward Youth Council

Attend ward youth council meetings when the deacons quorum president invites you to go in his absence. (See also “Participate in Ward Youth Council Meetings as Invited” under “What Should I Focus On?”)

Aaronic Priesthood Quorum Adviser and Specialist

The Aaronic Priesthood quorum adviser and a specialist serve as resources to you. They will help you fulfill your responsibilities and priesthood duties. As you counsel with them, do not hesitate to make specific assignments to them. These men will provide ongoing support and encouragement. When you are unsure what to do, counsel with them.
