Message from the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Dear Service Missionary:

The Book of Mormon teaches, “And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God” (Mosiah 2:17). God has called you to be a service missionary to perform an important work at this time. How grateful we are for your willingness to do so.

We encourage you to “pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart” that you may be filled with the pure love of Christ that is granted to “all who are true followers” of Jesus Christ (Moroni 7:47–48). We invite you to enlarge your talents and skills for the glory of God. He will help you to bless His children as you serve them as a service missionary.

The Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ—Service Missions is provided by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to guide your service. We encourage you to become familiar with it and live the standards that are outlined. These standards will help protect you physically, spiritually, and emotionally. They will help you become a true disciple of Jesus Christ and grow to become like Him. Regularly study these standards and strive to obey them. If you have questions, prayerfully ask the Lord to help you, and then counsel with your stake president and service mission leaders if needed.

We pray you will find true peace and joy as a service missionary in serving the Lord Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father’s children.

With love and appreciation,

First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
