Learn about My Calling

Your Most Important Responsibility

Welcome! Although you are called to help others enjoy the blessings of temple and family history service, your most important responsibility is to experience those blessings for yourself. To do this well, you need to first find the names of your own ancestors, take their names to the temple, and then teach others to do the same. The following steps will help you get started.

Find

Ask your priesthood leaders to direct you to a trained temple and family history consultant. If there is no temple and family history consultant, use the following resources to find family names:

Take

Take the family names you find to the temple, or share them with others so they can take them to the temple. When possible, do this as a family.

Using FamilySearch.org, you can print temple ordinance cards at home or in a family history center, send them electronically to friends or family, or submit them to the temple.

Teach

Teach your family and others to find their own names and take them to the temple. Your experience will help inspire others to discover the joy of temple and family history work.
