Africa South Area Welcomes New Area Presidency

The Africa South Area welcomed a new Area Presidency at the beginning of August. These priesthood leaders preside over the Church in the Southern Africa Area.

Edward Dube is the President of the Africa South Area. He was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on 6 April 2013.

Elder Dube was born in Chiramanzu, Zimbabwe, on 12 May 1962. He married Naume Keresia Salizani in 1989. They are the parents of four children.

He received a diploma in education in 1992 from Zimbabwe D.E. College and studied entrepreneurship at the University of South Africa in 2003.

He has served in several Church callings, including full-time missionary in Zimbabwe, district president, branch president, stake president, president of the Zimbabwe Harare Mission, and Area Seventy.

Prior to this assignment, Elder Dube was serving as the First Counsellor in the Africa South Area Presidency. Before that, he served as First Counsellor in the Africa West Area Presidency.

In his professional life, he worked in many positions for the Church Educational System in Africa for over 15 years before being called as a General Authority.

Marcos A. Aidukaitis is the First Counsellor in the Africa South Area. Marcos A. Aidukaitis was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on 30 August 1959. He married Luisa Englert in 1986. They are the parents of five children.

He received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics from Brigham Young University in 1988. In 1989, he received a master of business administration from Brigham Young University.

Elder Aidukaitis has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Brazil São Paulo Mission, stake high councillor, regional welfare agent, stake president, mission president, and Area Seventy.

At the time of his call as a General Authority Seventy, Elder Marcos A. Aidukaitis had been serving as the president of the Brazil Brasilia Mission. Before that, he served as an Area Seventy in Brazil and in leadership and the South America South Area Presidency.

He served as President of the Brazil Area from August 2017 to August 2020. He is currently serving at Church headquarters as a member of the North America Southeast Area Presidency.

Prior to his call as a mission president, he worked as an executive with multinational companies in Brazil. He also was a partner of a business enterprise.

Denelson Silva is the Second Counsellor in the Africa South Area.

Denelson Urbano da Silva was born in Recife, Brazil, on 4 July 1965. He married Regina Maria de Carvalho in 1987. They are the parents of two children.

Elder Silva was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on April 2, 2022, at age 56. At the time of his call, he had been serving as an Area Seventy in the Brazil Area.

Elder Silva has served in several Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Brazil Curitiba Mission, counsellor in a stake presidency, ward Young Men adviser, counsellor in a bishopric, high priest group leader, stake high councilor, bishop, stake president, and president of the Angola Luanda Mission from 2016 to 2019.

Elder Silva received a bachelor’s degree in data processing. He worked for more than 30 years in the travel industry. At the time of his call as a General Authority, he had been working as an area travel and fleet manager for the Church.
