After the immense waters of the flood had receded enough that there was dry ground upon which to live, Noah, his family, and all the animals left the ark to fill the earth. God placed a rainbow in the sky as a token of the covenant that he would never again destroy all flesh with a flood. Noah and his family built an altar and offered a sacrifice of thanks to the Lord.
