What can I do if I’m struggling with anxiety or depression?
Over the past couple of years, I have struggled with anxiety and depression because of lots of changes that happened in my life all at once: I moved, my grandparents moved, and my uncle died of pancreatic cancer, all while my nana was getting breast cancer treatment. Starting middle school also brought me lots of anxiety. It was a new place with new people and experiences, and I was so overwhelmed.
During this time, I felt like a light switch had been turned off and there was no hope left. I started having panic attacks daily and didn’t know what to do.
Then I realized there was a loving Savior who would help me. So I went to my Heavenly Father in prayer and read about Jesus Christ in the scriptures. I started seeing a therapist, and I got my patriarchal blessing.
Though those months were so hard for me, I learned so much. Now if I could go back and change anything to make them easier, I wouldn’t.
I also recently found out I will be moving again, and I realized that Heavenly Father was preparing me for the challenge ahead.
As my relationship with God has grown, I have had more confidence to take on my mental challenges. I now look to my Savior regularly. He is my comfort and my guide in this crazy world, and He is yours too.
He is the light of the world. He will lift your burdens and ease your pains as you strive to be like Him.
