disciple of Jesus Christ

The word disciple means someone who learns from a teacher or master (like a pupil or an apprentice).

Disciples of Jesus Christ learn from Him, follow His teachings, and try to be like Him.

called of him to declare his word

Some people have a special calling to declare Christ’s word, such as missionaries. But through our covenants, we promise to keep His commandments, including the commandment to be a light to the world (see Matthew 5:14–16). And we declare our willingness to “stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places” (Mosiah 18:9).

Every member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is called to help accomplish the Lord’s work and share His gospel (see Doctrine and Covenants 38:40–41).

everlasting life

Everlasting life means life in the celestial kingdom with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. This is the reward for people who have faith in Jesus Christ, repent, make and keep covenants, and endure to the end.

The Lord has said, “This is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man” (Moses 1:39). Disciples help Him to accomplish His work.
