How I Study the Scriptures

Hi! I’m Kambry. I live in Virginia, USA. Some of my favorite things to do are riding my bike, going to the park, and playing the piano. I really like to play hymns like “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” (Hymns for Home and Church, no. 1001). I also like reading the stories in the scriptures. (Daniel and the lions’ den is my favorite.) And I’m excited to read about Jesus Christ this year!

My favorite story about Jesus is the story of when He was resurrected. I know that we will be resurrected too, just like Him!

I had three eye surgeries when I was a baby to have cataracts removed from my eyes. A cataract is like a blurry spot inside your eye that makes it hard to see. Because of this, sometimes reading makes my eyes tired. So I read the scriptures on my tablet and make the words extra big so they’re easier to see.

There are lots of different ways to learn about the scriptures! I also like to read the scripture stories books and watch videos about the scriptures to help me understand them.

Scripture stories can help us answer questions about the gospel and learn what Heavenly Father and Jesus want us to do. Last year, my family read about Joseph in Egypt together. I learned that God wants me to be a peacemaker like Joseph and not be jealous of others like his brothers were. I also learned from the story of Adam and Eve that I can go through hard things and learn how to be strong with Jesus Christ’s help.

I know I’m going to learn a lot about what Jesus wants me to do this year when I read about Him in the New Testament.
