September 29–October 5: Doctrine and Covenants 109–110

Temple Cards

Whenever a temple is built, a special prayer is said to dedicate, or set apart, the temple to God (like in Doctrine and Covenants 109). You can learn more about temples by collecting the temple cards on page 12. Make your own temple card about the temple closest to you! Or go to page 13 to create torn-paper temple art.

For younger children: Visit the temple grounds or show your little ones a picture of the temple closest to you. Tell them that the temple is the house of the Lord.

October 6–12: Doctrine and Covenants 111–114

Preparing for Prayer

Heavenly Father always hears our prayers (see Doctrine and Covenants 112:10–11). To help you prepare to pray, try writing down or drawing what you want to pray for. You could include something you’re grateful for, someone who needs help, and something you need help with.

For younger children: Read Doctrine and Covenants 112:10 with your little one. Then lead them by the hand on a walk and tell them that Heavenly Father will always hear their prayers.

October 13–19: Doctrine and Covenants 115–120

Name of the Church

Jesus Christ named His restored Church “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” (see Doctrine and Covenants 115:3–6). Write down each word of this name on a slip of paper. Scramble the papers. Then try to put the Church’s name in order. See how fast you can do it!

For younger children: Sing “The Church of Jesus Christ” (Children’s Songbook, 77) with your child to help them learn the full name of the Church.

October 20–26: Doctrine and Covenants 121–123

Paper Airplane Challenge

When you are striving to follow Jesus Christ, little things can make a big difference! (See Doctrine and Covenants 123:15–17.) Follow the instructions on page 34 to fold a paper airplane. Then make another paper airplane but skip one of the steps. Which one flies better? Why is each fold important?

For younger children: Help your little one spoon water into a cup to fill it. Teach them that every small spoonful helps fill the cup, just like how every small thing we do to follow Jesus Christ is important.
