Peanut Drop

(A game from Israel)

Materials

For each player, you will need: a sturdy chair, a clean jar with a small mouth (or other fairly small container), and twenty unshelled peanuts (or dried beans or buttons—the smaller these objects, the smaller the container’s mouth needs to be).

To Play

Place the jar on the floor in front of the chair. Each player in turn kneels on the chair and puts one hand behind his/her back. With the other hand, he/she tries to drop the peanuts into the jar. The first player to get five peanuts in the jar wins.

Variations

  1. The player who gets the most peanuts in the jar wins.

  2. Divide into equal teams, use only one chair per team, give each player five peanuts, and see which team has the most peanuts in the jar after three minutes. (No player may touch the chair until his/her preceding teammate has finished his/her turn and has completely gotten off the chair.)

  3. Grip the chair with both hands and drop the peanuts with your teeth.
