October

By Solveig Paulson Russell

Now that it’s October,

The leaves are crinkly dry.

And lazy clouds go floating

Across an azure sky.

The growing season’s over,

The breeze has lost its zest,

And everywhere there’s peacefulness

As earth begins to rest.
