It Must Be So

By Mabel Jones Gabbott

My father is wise. Whenever I pray

He listens quietly to what I say.

For a prayer, when sincere, he says, must start

From a person’s thoughts deep within the heart.

He says he can tell in his own special way

What I have done by the words that I pray.

I guess if my father on earth can know

So much from my prayers, it must be so

That Heavenly Father, who hears me pray,

Will know all I think and do every day.
