Withstanding the Deceptions of Satan

Nephi prophesied that in the last days Satan would have a great hold on the people. What can we do to prepare ourselves against the tactics of the adversary?

Articles

  • “Watchful unto Prayer Continually.” In this general conference address, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles likens the strategies of Satan to that of two cheetahs stalking a herd of topis and reminds us of the need to be constantly vigilant and prayerful.

  • “Power to Overcome the Adversary.” In this general conference address, Elder Peter M. Johnson of the Seventy discusses three tactics of the adversary and what we can do to overcome them.

  • “Seven Lies Satan Wants You to Believe.” This New Era article describes seven common lies Satan tries to tell you and the truths you should believe instead.

Activities

  • “The Yo-Yo Decision.” Read this Friend article aloud with your children and discuss how the Holy Ghost feels and how it can help us avoid temptation.

  • “The Wise Man and the Foolish Man.” Read and discuss this short story with your children. Then do the accompanying activity and discuss with your family how making wise choices can protect us from Satan’s deceptions.
