Saturday Morning, 1 April 1989 General Session

The Mormon Youth Chorus, directed by Robert C. Bowden, with organist Clay Christiansen, sang “Father, Thy Children to Thee Now Raise” by Stephens (Hymns, 1985, no. 91), “Shout the Glad Tidings” by Avison, arr. Stanton (Harold Flammer, Inc.), “How Gentle God’s Commands” by Nageli/Doddridge (Hymns, 1985, no. 125; arr. Bowden, manuscript), “Joseph Smith’s First Prayer” by Pond/Manwaring (Hymns, 1985, no. 26), “Sing Praises” by Glarum (Hall & McCreary Co.), “Nearer, My God, to Thee” by Mason/Adams (Hymns, 1985, no. 100), and “Hark, All Ye Nations!” by Root/Monch (Hymns, 1985, no. 264). The Brigham Young University Combined Choirs, directed by Ronald Staheli and Mack Wilberg, with organist Robert Cundick, sang “If You Could Hie to Kolob” by Vaughan Williams/Phelps (Hymns, 1985, no. 284), “Redeemer of Israel” by Lewis/Phelps (Hymns, 1985, no. 6; arr. Wilberg, manuscript), “How Beautiful upon the Mountains,” from The Redeemer by Cundick (manuscript). The congregation sang “Hope of Israel” by Clayson Townsend (Hymns, 1985, no. 259).

Saturday Evening, 1 April 1989 Priesthood Session

The Ricks College Centennial Priesthood Choir, directed by Richard Robison and Mike Belnap, with organist Clay Christiansen, sang “Come, Let Us Anew” by Lucas/Wesley (Hymns, 1985, no. 217; arr. Wolford, manuscript), “Jesus, Once of Humble Birth” by Meyerbeer/Pratt (Hymns, 1985, no. 196; arr. Wolford, manuscript), and “Rise Up, O Men of God” by Walter/Merrill (Hymns, 1985, no. 324; arr. The Tabernacle Choir, directed by Jerold D. Ottley and Donald H. Ripplinger, with organist John Longhurst, sang “Come, Rejoice” by Cannon (Hymns, 1985, no. 9), “Cast Thy Burden upon the Lord” by Mendelssohn/Schubring (Hymns, 1985, no. 110), “Arise, Shine, Thy Light Is Come” by Saint-Saens, arr.
