Saturday Morning, 4 April, 1981, Welfare Session

Under the direction of Jerold Ottley, with Roy Darley as organist, the congregation sang three hymns; “Redeemer of Israel” by Lewis (Hymns, no. 195), “Now Let Us Rejoice” (Hymns, no. 118), and “Come, Ye Children of the Lord” (Hymns, no. 23).

Saturday Morning, 4 April 1981, First General Session

The Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir, directed by Donald Ripplinger, with organist Robert Cundick, sang “For the Strength of the Hills” by Stephens (Hymns, no. 241), “Jesus! Name of Wondrous Love” by Titcomb (The Choirbook, p. 24), “Praise to the Lord” by Neander/Longhurst (Hymns, no. 150, Hymnal Plus, Sonos), “Jesus Once of Humble Birth” from the English Chorister (Hymns, no. 88), “Come, We That Love the Lord” by Williams (Hymns, no. 25), “More Holiness Give Me” by Bliss/Cundick (Hymns, no. 114, Hymnal Plus, Sonos), “All Glory, Laud and Honor” by Teschner/Schreiner (J. Fischer), and “Most Holy Spirit” by Robertson (The Choirbook, p. 41). The congregation sang “Israel, Israel, God is Calling” by Converse (Hymns, no. 81).

Saturday Afternoon, 4 April 1981, Second General Session

A Combined Institute Choir from Salt Lake, Weber, and Logan Institutes, directed by Paul A. Hanks, with organist Roy Darley, sang “True to the Faith” by Stephens/Lyon (Choral Settings of Six LDS Hymns, Deseret Book Company), “There Is a Green Hill Far Away” by Gower/Lyon (Choral Settings of Six LDS Hymns, Deseret Book Company), and “Still, Still With Thee” by Shelley (Lorenz Publishing Company). The congregation sang “Oh Say, What Is Truth?” by Melling (Hymns, no. 143).

Saturday Evening, 4 April 1981, General Priesthood Session

A Combined Men’s Choir from the Tabernacle Choir and Mormon Youth Chorus, directed by Robert C. Bowden, with Roy Darley at the organ, sang “Beautiful Savior,” 12th Century Crusader’s Hymn/Gundersen (manuscript not available), “O My Father” by McGranahan (Hymns, no. 139), and “Swell the Full Chorus” by Handel/Ohl (Plymouth Music Company). The congregation sang “Rejoice, the Lord is King” by Parker (Hymns, no. 151).

Sunday Morning, 5 April 1981, Third General Session

The Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir, directed by Jerold Ottley, with organist John Longhurst, sang “Come, O Thou King of Kings” (Hymns, no. 20), “Sweet is the Work” by McClellan/Manookin (The Choirbook, p. 20), “Father, Thy Children to Thee Now Raise” by Stephens (Hymns, no. 43.), “Home’s Bright Love,” by Shurtleff (The Choirbook, p. 65), “But the Lord is Mindful of His Own” by Mendelssohn (Mills Music), “My Shepherd Will Supply My Need” by Thompson (H. W. Gray), “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me” by Gould/Longhurst (Hymns, no. 121, Hymnal Plus, Sonos), “The Lord’s Prayer” by Malotte (G. Schirmer), and “Come Unto Jesus” by Huish (Hymns, no. 22). The congregation sang “We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet” by Norton (Hymns, no. 196).

Sunday Afternoon, 5 April 1981, Fourth General Session

The Salt Lake Mormon Tabernacle Choir, directed by Jerold Ottley, with Robert Cundick at the organ, sang “For Our Devotions, Father” (Hymns, no. 107), “O Divine Redeemer” by Gounod (Festival Anthems, out of print), and “God So Loved the World” by Stainer (The Choirbook, p. 28). The congregation sang “I Need Thee Ev’ry Hour” by Lowry (Hymns, no. 79).
