Responsibilities
Assist local Church leaders with activation and retention of Latter-day Saint service members and their families.
When military members and their families transfer to a new military installation, coordinate with other military relations missionaries and leaders of Church units. This is especially important when basic trainees move to advanced training bases and then on to their first permanent-duty station.
Visit families of deployed service members and provide support and encouragement.
Using the eight lessons from Becoming a Self-Reliant and Resilient Family, teach military families how to develop resilience so they can better cope with the challenges of deployment and family separation.
Participate in missionary discussions given to part-member families and investigators serving in the military.
Help military members and their families prepare for and receive temple ordinances.
Teach Institute of Religion classes to single service members as needed in the local area.
Serve as stake Addiction Recovery Program group leaders, if needed.
Report to the stake military relations committee on activation, retention, and missionary activities. When needed, serve as the military liaison to the base.
Foster understanding and support with military chaplains and commanders.
Provide volunteer service to service organizations on the military installation.
