God honors our agency. He won't force us,
but He'll help us. And He'll help us
without limitation, because the heavens are open. Can I share the very first-- Please. --song, very first hymn
that Emma put in her book? Know this. Know then "that ev'ry soul
is free to choose his life and what he'll be; for this
eternal truth is giv'n: that God will force no
man to heav'n." Oh, good for you. That is eternal truth, and
I think we can have that reassurance--we do. We have that reassurance,
that we cannot be forced. Our Heavenly Father wants
us to choose, to desire to come to Him. And He'll give us all the helps
we need, but it's our choice. He will not force us. Well, the Book of Mormon tells
you you're free to choose liberty, freedom, and eternal
life or eternal--elsewhere.
And it's so simple, really. If you want to be happy,
you keep the commandments. If you want to be
miserable, you break them. And I think probably,
individually, we have experienced both of those. Oh, yes. That's part of life. That's how we learn. That's how we learn. But we can testify
that that is true. When we keep the Lord's
commandments, we are happy.
