President Rosemary K. Chibota was sustained as Primary General President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 4, 2026. She began her service on August 1, 2026.
President Chibota served with her husband as leaders of the Alabama Birmingham Mission (2022–2025). They also served together as mission preparation instructors. She has served as ward activities chair; instructor in Relief Society, Sunday School, Primary, and seminary; counselor in branch and ward Relief Society and Primary presidencies; and branch and district Young Women president. She also served as a member of the Ecclesiastical Review Committee for the translation of the Book of Mormon in Shona.
President Chibota holds a master’s degree from Western Governors University and a bachelor’s degree from Colorado Technical University. She worked as a senior executive assistant in the Office of the Quorum of the Seventy and a human resources generalist for the Church. She also worked in the Member and Statistical Records Division.
Rosemary Khwimani Gondwe was born on October 16 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. She married Joel B. Chibota on July 13, 1996. They have lived in the United States since 2003. They are the parents of one daughter.
