These sites tell a story of faith, perseverance, and hope even in the face of disagreement and trial. They have been preserved for visitors to enjoy both in person and virtually.

House of the Lord

The Saints’ efforts to build a house of the Lord in Kirtland began slowly, but as the Saints sacrificed to accomplish this commandment from the Lord, they received a miraculous endowment of power as He accepted their offering.

Priesthood Authority and Power

As the Church continued to grow in Kirtland, many revelations led to the creation of priesthood offices and structures still used in the Church today. These changes helped to organize missionary efforts and prepare the Saints for the Kirtland Temple.

Doctrinal Development

During his time in Ohio, Joseph received many revelations that transformed Latter-day Saint beliefs, solidified doctrines, and instituted Church administrative structures that continue to define the Church today.
