The Purpose of Recreational Camps

Church camps are meant to help the youth gather away from worldly influences, build lasting gospel-centered relationships, enjoy safe and wholesome recreation, and strengthen their faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Camp is an opportunity for youth to practice patterns of gospel living away from worldly influences and challenges they may face in their daily lives.

Everything we do at camp should help the youth do the following:

  • Draw closer to our Heavenly Father and the Savior Jesus Christ
  • Develop and strengthen testimonies of the restored gospel
  • Promote strong spiritual values, self-worth, and character
  • Show reverence and respect for the Lord’s creations
  • Learn and improve leadership skills
  • Participate in meaningful service
  • Foster caring and nurturing relationships

Frequently Asked Questions

Only members can make reservations. However, non-members are welcome to attend with other members.

Reservations open according to a priority schedule. The priority schedule can be found on the homepage of the reservation site. All reservations open at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Time on the date listed in the schedule.

Generally, camps are closed on Sunday unless approved by the area presidency. If approval is given to stay through Sunday, persons staying through Sunday are invited to attend Church services nearby and engage only in activities that conform with the spirit of the Sabbath.

Every participant—including both youth and leaders—needs a signed Permission & Medical Release form before they are able to participate in any camp activities.
The unit’s youth leaders are responsible for collecting these forms.

No pets or emotional support animals are permitted at Church recreational camps, even if they stay in your vehicle. Service animals may be allowed at some Church recreational camps.
